I have also found joy in teaching math again. I love that hour of the day when I am confident that my students are engaged and are loving learning math. [Especially in a subject that many have experienced learned helplessness, despair, struggle, frustration, and failure in the past] I have found the professional spark that stokes my passion in education and gives me the reassurance that I am doing something that also inspires others. I absolutely love doing professional development on ZONES Math. I love sharing my experiences teaching math using ZONES and hearing the positive response from other educators.
One of my greatest joys as a veteran educator is doing professional development for ZONES. I just love sharing what we are doing with others. I have found that I love teaching adults as much as I love teaching students. ![]() Are your ready for the change? On my personal Pinterest account I have over 4,000 pins!! I use it all of the time! (I just used it last night to find a solution to get a black Sharpie art project my 4 year old wrote on his bedroom wall! - P.S. rubbing alcohol worked much better than toothpaste) I also use it all the time for finding great ideas for teaching. It has become almost my new Google, my "go-to" for great teaching ideas.
It just seemed obvious that ZONES Math should have a presence on Pinterest. So I have created an account. When you follow ZONES Math on Pinterest, (click on the icon below!) you will get ideas about all of the areas of ZONES Math and ideas, strategies, and resources for each of the components.
That is NOT even the BEST part! I have added all of the lovely ZONES Math creators as contributors to each of the ZONES Math Pinterest boards as well. So you will get 5 amazing math educators and their tried and true innovative ideas to use when you are using this model in your classroom.
I have created a board for whole group instruction, small group instruction, conferencing, and each of the ZONES rotations. I have not added ideas for specific curriculum topics at this time as the list could get quite exhausting finding specific curriculum for grades K-6. However, in time, that may come as well. These pins will focus mainly on websites that have great resources and strategies for the ZONES framework. We love our social media. Make sure to follow us on Pinterest and let us know if there is anything specific you would like to see more of on any of our social media accounts. Happy "Pinning"! I am off to make this delicious new cookie recipe I found and attempt an absurd painting craft with my kiddos!!! Olivia |
