The Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice somehow snuck in under my radar when I originally unwrapped my grade level common core standards. Do you know what they are???
The Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice describe the "varieties of expertise that mathematics educators at all levels should seek to develop in their students." These should be thought of as the overarching "processes and proficiencies" for mathematics education. These, of course, are in addition to the Common Core Content Standards and cover all grade levels.
You may be thinking, "How in the world am I supposed to EMBED additional standards into my already PACKED scope and sequence of my content standards?" Guess What?! The answer, is ZONES Math. The ZONES Math Framework, was built upon these foundational practices. Therefore, by using the ZONES framework in your classroom, you are covering these practices.
And HERE is how ZONES imbeds these practice standards:
Do you see how amazing this is?!?! ZONES Math perfectly embeds these practice standards. They are the foundation for mathematical thinking and practice in our classrooms AND the foundation for ZONES.
If you love this - here is a GREAT website that gives TONS of great classroom display items of all of the practice standards in English AND in Spanish for all grade levels!
We're glad you're here!
