It's one of those things you just have to know… math facts!
Every year I struggle… do we make flashcards as a class? Is it worth the effort and time spent? Yes. Every year we make them, BUT every year I get better at using them and teaching the students HOW to use them too.
This week in 3rd grade, we kicked off MATH ZONES (I know… it's January - better late than never!). We did a lot with the expectations of the overall routine, and then focused on the memoriZe facts zone. Connecting MATH ZONES with our DAILY5 routine of choices made coming up with the expectations relatively easy. Setting the expectations is key to success… and a happy teacher.
*Expectations are added into math journals.
We're glad you're here!
