GVSU Math In Action - Making Math Meaningful
February 2017

Math is Action is a great day of networking and professional development with educators from all over Michigan.  We presented a session on Differentiating for Diverse Learners Using a Guided Math Framework.  Teachers learned ways to increase student engagement, develop mathematical language, and promote higher-order thinking for diverse learners using our ZONES guided math framework.

It is always so much fun to present to future educators!  We presented two sessions that had great response from students from 10 local Universities.  The students are just finishing up their intern placement and will be looking for jobs either mid-year or starting in the Fall of 2017.  It is rewarding to know that ZONES may be implemented in classrooms across our nation because of seeds planted today.

We were invited to Grand Valley State University to present at this conference which includes 10 local Universities that collaborate to create our future educators.  We presented 2 sessions as an introduction to ZONES Math to teachers who are current cooperating teachers hosting a student intern.  It was a great experience to be able to network with passionate and veteran educators.

Jefferson International Academy - Professional Development {Part 2}

We got the wonderful opportunity to partner with Jefferson Academy to follow up on our Professional Development held in September.  We were able to provide answers to outstanding questions as well as move the staff forward into the next phases of full implementation of ZONES Math in their classrooms

Via webinar, we trained a staff of about 20 awesome teachers on the ZONES framework, as well as how to launch ZONES. We received positive feedback from the staff, who now feel ready to implement ZONES in their classrooms. We will conduct two more follow up sessions to ensure the staff is fully supported.

We had a full house of fellow mathletes!  These teachers love math just like us and they were loving what we had to offer!!!  We had great feedback and follow up questions!  

Plano School District 88 - Professional Development
Spring 2016

We spent two full-day sessions with five teachers in each session. We trained them on the basics of ZONES, how to run math workshop, and how ZONES integrates into the curriculum they are using. We spent the afternoons collaborating to find and develop resources, and plan for their summer school intervention program.
